MANGANESE IN WATER

If you notice that your water has a yellow, brown tint and smell, it is manganese. Manganese is a mineral that is present in all lake water at all times. MacBee SUD modifies the treatment of the water in the hot summer months because the manganese becomes more visible in hot weather.  Even though MacBee makes every effort to avoid the more visible manganese getting out into the water system, it is sometimes unavoidable.  The manganese only affects the color of your water and it not harmful.

The water is treated and safe to use.   TCEQ does not require a "boil water" notice to be issued for the presence of manganese in your water.

MacBee is currently doing an entire system flush to try and resolve the issue.
